English Language Learners

The annual ELL elementary parent meeting was held at Hoben Elementary on November 16th.  Over 70 ELL students and their parents attended.  The evening brought together ELL paraprofessionals, staff, and families to meet and discuss academic success.

We appreciate the diversity of our school district and the many cultures represented by our ELL families. This event is an opportunity to meet the ELL staff and other parents of students in our program.

The English Language Proficiency Assessment (ELPA) was administered in April of 2011. The ELPA is an annual look at student’s progress in state English Language proficiency standards. This year 780 students took the assessment.

ELPA results are expected this summer. Parents and schools will receive ELPA reports for each student. For more information, contact the ELL Office at (734) 416-4908.
